The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko has asked the people of Lwengo District to continue supporting the NRM government led by President Yoweri Museveni, saying it's the only government with the right diagnosis for the challenges affecting Ugandans.
Namayanja made the call yesterday while addressing a massive crowd at the "Buganda for Museveni" mobilisation rally in Lwengo District. She lauded the President's transformative leadership, saying, "We know where Uganda used to be and how it is today. It's only the NRM that knows where Uganda needs to go."
Highlighting the party's commitment to grassroots development, Namayanja emphasised the Parish Development Model's (PDM) pivotal role in poverty reduction. She described the initiative as "a small bank in every parish," providing affordable credit to boost household incomes.
She said such poverty alleviation programs like the PDM and Emyooga have greatly contributed to the socio-economic transformation of many Ugandans and uplifted their standards of living, and encouraged them to embrace them.
Namayanja urged youth participation in the party's internal elections, stressing the need for credible and reliable leaders.
"We need leaders who can stand firm for the party," she said. "I encourage all those in the yellow book to participate in this important exercise."
Attorney General Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka called on residents to support leaders aligned with the NRM’s vision. “When you forget where you’ve come from, it becomes difficult to know where you’re going,” he remarked. He also revealed that President Museveni had instructed for an increase in funding for the PDM program, with support from NRM MPs.
Energy and Mineral Development Minister, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu assured the public that efforts to extend electricity coverage were being fast-tracked with backing from the World Bank. “Electricity is central to value addition. Access to power will unlock development across our communities,” she said.
The Woman MP Hon. Cissy Namujju rallied residents to remain steadfast in their support for President Museveni, vowing to continue mobilizing Lwengo district as a stronghold of the NRM.
Among those in attendance were local district leaders and community members.
