In anticipation of the upcoming Presidential Parish Development Model (PDM) Tour, leaders from across Greater Mukono gathered for a key preparatory meeting at Kalagala Secondary School in Buikwe District.
The meeting brought together district leaders from Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga, and Buvuma, and was graced by high-profile government officials, including Hon. Anite Evelyn (Minister for Investment), Jane Barekye (State House Comptroller), Hon. Robert Migadde, Hon. Amos Lugolobi, Hon. Diana Mutasingwa, as well as RDCs, CAOs, DISOs, and other local government leaders.
Presiding over the meeting, the Rt. Hon. Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) commended the leaders for turning up in large numbers on short notice and for their commitment to national development. She congratulated the newly elected NRM structure leaders and praised their efforts in grassroots mobilization.
She emphasized President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s vision in launching the PDM as a tool to uplift ordinary Ugandans. “No government has ever given direct financial support to citizens like the NRM has through PDM,” she said, urging communities to embrace the program as a path to financial inclusion.
Speaking passionately about political commitment, she called on leaders to rally support for the NRM in the upcoming elections: “If we don’t vote for NRM leaders, it’s our region that will lag behind since the opposition has no commitment and capacity to lobby for our area from the government. For Buganda’s development and for the future of our country, we must prioritize working with the government.”
She further encouraged unity and resilience among leaders, stating, “Let’s put aside our internal differences for the common good.
The preparatory meeting set a strong tone for the president’s visit, reaffirming the region’s readiness and commitment to advancing the goals of the Parish Development Model and the broader NRM agenda.
