Museveni flags off construction works for Najjanankumbi-Busabala road

Wednesday 30th December 2020

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today flagged off construction works for the construction of the Najjanankumbi- Busabala road in Wakiso district.

Speaking at the function held at Busabala Primary School, the President said government now has money to construct all roads in the country.

“All big roads will be worked upon. This road is near the scouts and girl guides base but a few years ago we got embarrassed when scouts from all over the world came and the road was not  in good condition. When they return, they will find the road in good  condition,”Museveni said.

The President also applauded the locals from the area where the road is going to pass for allowing to give away land without being compensated first.

“It is not good to pressuring government for compensation. Let the project begin and we shall compensate you later.”

Museveni however asked that the road be used for transporting goods and services to the market, other than using it for rumor mongering.

The Uganda National Roads Authority Executive Director, Allen Kagina said apart from the 11km, the road project has several other components including pedestrian bridges.

“The objective is to improve traffic flow in the city and connection to the trunk roads,” she said, adding that since 1986, a total of 4792 kilometres of new roads have been done by the NRM government in various parts of the country.

She also commended government efforts that have seen at least every district and borders connected by a tarmac road.

The shs258 billion road works to be done by  China State Construction Engineering Corporation are to be completed in 36 months.

The road is fully funded by the government of Uganda.
