Nabbanja tours Nakaseke on Commercial farming agenda

The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has urged residents of Nakaseke district to invest in commercial agriculture, saying this will assist in reducing household poverty.

The Prime Minister who was in the company of the NRM deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja and ministers were at the agriculture mobilisation tour hosted at Nakaseke international school in Nakaseke district.

Nabbanja said, “Use the available empowerment schemes like the Parish development model to boost your productivity. We (government) commit to avail revolving funds for you to utilize and make an impact in your families.”

The expo gave locals an opportunity to interact with quality or new farm inputs like seeds, and machinery. They also sought technical advice from the agricultural specialists on the best farming methods.

“From the testimonies of the model farmers, agriculture experts and having interacted with new seeds and technologies will guide your farming methods,” Nabbanja said.

The PM Nabbanja also emphasized that the main objective of agricultural exhibitions across the country is to inspire farmers to embrace profitable farming practices, harness genuine agricultural inputs, take pride in their yield, and seamlessly embrace the latest farming technologies.

The Prime Minister who pitched camp in the districts of Luwero triangle today Saturday, heads to Nakasongola district before concluding with Luwero on Sunday.  

This campaign was organized by the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries and attended by ministers and government agencies.

Government agencies and ministers participated in the campaign organized by the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries. Among them are: Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Central Region, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, the Minister of State for Luwero-Rwenzori and Hon. Muruli Mukasa, the Minister for Public Service.

Others were Hon. Judith Nabakooba, the Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Haruna Kasolo, the Minister of State for Microfinance,  Hon. Aisha Sekindi, the Minister of State for Water;, Hon. Fred Bwino, the Minister of State for Agriculture; and Hon. Beatrice Akello, the Minister of State for Economic Monitoring.

The 3 Day exhibition tour is aimed at providing a platform for leaders to interact with locals on how they can uplift themselves out of poverty through commercial agriculture.
