
The NRM Electoral Commission has revealed over 800 out the 2,800 who picked nomination forms have returned them for nomination.
"By yesterday Wednesday evening, over 800 aspirants out of the 2,800 who picked Nominations forms had returned them."
The NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr Tanga Odoi also revealed that the exercise had many unopposed aspirants which is a “good for us” to the party because it shows popularity of the candidate.
Dr Tanga Odoi said today at the electoral commission offices during the third day of nominations.
“We have not had any major incidents. Instead, we have had many unopposed. I don't know whether the principal has compiled, but we have had many unopposed. They are now coming to seven (7) unopposed, and that is good for us, for the party,” Tanga said.
Tanga also told journalists that he has also received six petitions of some aspirants who were disqualified by the commission on various lime academic qualifications and other three on a bad criminal record, “So we have handed over to the lawyer.”
The commission's head commended nominated candidates for showing interest and for being organized in the way they present their documents.
“I want to thank all the NRM people for showing interest in their party in a very organized manner in which they did. This level of interest in the activities of the party should be applauded. Besides, I also want to thank the staff of NRM Electoral Commission, starting with the commissioners and the staff at different levels. For the hard work, the punctuality, and for the determination to do their work,” Tanga said.
