The NRM Party National Treasurer, Hon Namayanja Rose Nsereko, yesterday in Biddabugya Health Centre called upon Ugandans to elect capable leaders who will lobby services for the benefit of the electorate in their areas.

Speaking moments after inspecting construction works at the Biddabugya Health Centre III extension facility in Nakaseke district, Hon. Namayanja encouraged the population to only elect NRM candidates at all levels of leadership, thus explaining that these are the only ones capable of lobbying support from the different relevant organs of government for the benefit of their communities.

“Let us not elect leaders who will go around spreading hate and intrigue amongst the populace but leaders on the party ticket who are going to spread unity and also solicit for services that will benefit the community as a whole,” Namayanja said.

The extension facility at Biddabugya Health Centre was started by the Rose Namayanja Foundation and at completion, the Foundation requested the army to take it on as one of the projects undertaken as part of activities to commemorate the 39th Tarehe Sita day.

Namayanja thanked the UPDF for the different projects carried out in the region, she then explain that these will go a long way in supporting the livelihoods of the population.

“I want to thank our armed forces who through the wise counsel of the Commander in Chief, HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni found it necessary to commemorate this day through giving back to the community of greater Luwero where most people sacrificed their lives for the liberation of this country,” she said.

“This day is very significant to our area. Seeing the activities that have been undertaken by the UPDF including completion of this facility, It is a great token to us and we thank God that this is what our people fought for. The army is a very people-centred army and buttresses civil-military relations.” She added.

The UPDF Joint Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Musanyufu handed over Sh 30 Million to Kasangombe Women’s Stationeries group and the Youth Hatchery Project in fulfilment of the pledge made by the CDF Gen Muhoozi a few weeks back. This was in addition to the 100 mattresses and 100 cartons of soap donated by General Salim Saleh to the health centre.

Tarehe Sita marks the day the NRA fighters under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni launched the first attack against Kabamba Barracks that marked the beginning of the five-year struggle finally leading to the liberation of Uganda.

The UPDF today celebrates the 39th Tarehe Sita Annivassery at Butalangu grounds in Nakaseke under the theme, “Consolidating the strategic partnership with the people to guard the gains of liberation”.
