President Museveni tips Lamwo on projects

President Yoweri Museveni has directed leaders in Lamwo district to identify possible Income Generating projects and technologies for fast implementation by Government.


This was contained in a message read out for him by the NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba at the pass out ceremony of 1215 Party Cadres who underwent a 30-day political education training at Banabana Military barracks on Saturday.


The NRM National Chairman further assured the residents here of the government commitment to maintain total peace up to the boarder areas with South Sudan. The President said similar peace maintenance approaches applied in Karamoja disarment exercise of training and deployment of LDUs hailing from within the localities will be applied in Sub Counties nearing the boarders for continuous peace maintenance.




The leaders demanded to meet their National Chairman and the Secretary General promised to coordinate their visit with the President. On having a Technical Institute per Sub County, SG Lumumba guided that the government policy requires such an Institution to be located in every Constituency and not Sub County.


Addressing the same gathering the NRM Deputy National Treasurer Dr. Kenneth Omona urged those trained to use the acquired skills to foster peace in the district. Dr. Omona further said poverty was the country's biggest enemy that should be confronted from all directions. "The fight using guns should be left for police and soldiers as we use brains to fight poverty", Dr. Omona stressed.




Reacting to the Presidential directive delivered by the Secretary General, area MP and Minister Hilary Onek said they were soon embarking on consultative meetings in all the eleven Sub Counties for appropriate technologies that can benefit the area.




Also present at the function was Kitgum Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Beatrice Anywar who in her brief address emphasised team work among leaders in the area. "We need to put our voices together as leaders of the region and demand what we need from our government", Anywar said

Hon Lanyero hailed the Secretary General for her maturity in approach to issues.




Ms. Achiro Anna, Abaro Florence, Ochora Denis and Omony Andrew were voted best participants in shooting and were awared certificates of recognition.
