Teachers to get housing loans

THE Government will soon start offering housing loans to teachers who have taught for about 20 years. Addressing a public rally at Kapchorwa Boma Grounds last evening, Museveni said the modalities of effecting the programme were being discussed, and details would be released as soon as they are agreed on. He said teachers always disturb parents by collecting money from them in order to sustain themselves. “I want to curb the practice of teachers searching from the parents who are also stressed with other responsibilities,” he said.

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has announced that the Government will compensate people who lost livestock to the Karimojong rustlers in the Teso sub-region. The President said it was a pity that Teso had gone through such agony due to poor governance and mistakes made by leaders.

 

Kony gone for good - Museveni

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has dismissed the Opposition’s claims that LRA rebel leader Joseph Kony will return if the people of northern Uganda vote for him. Addressing a rally at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu district in Thursday, the President ruled out any possibility of the Lord’s Resistance Army chief coming back to the north. He said NRM is a party of action unlike the opposition, who make empty promises.

 

Museveni gives Acholi chiefs houses

 PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni yesterday commissioned 49 houses for Acholi traditional chiefs. The President also promised to build 54 houses for clan chiefs in Acholi sub-region during the 2006 campaigns. Museveni cut the tape at the newly-built four-bedroom house at the palace of the paramount chief, David Onen Achana II, at Laloro, Purongo sub-county in Nwoya district.

 

Top UPC party bosses cross to NRM

 TOP UPC stalwarts Hajji Badru Wegulo, Osinde Wangor and Henry Peter Mayega defected to the ruling party yesterday. The UPC historicals crossed at the launch of the NRM 2011 manifesto at Kampala Serena Hotel. 

 

Lango regional leaders defect to NRM

SEVERAL leaders in Lango, including the Amolatar Woman MP, Caroline Okao, defected to the NRM as President Yoweri Museveni launched his campaign in the sub-region. Addressing huge rallies in Amolatar and Dokolo districts, Museveni urged the people to vote for the NRM in the general elections next year.

 

Universal A’level starts next year

 THE NRM 2011 presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni, has promised free education for A’level students starting next year.  Museveni made the promise at different rallies in Lango sub-region. The Government is already providing free education at O’level.
