President says new cabinet is cross generational, full of expertise, unity and stability

President Yoweri Museveni has described the new cabinet as a cross generational one which took into account expertise, unity and stability of the country, calling on the new ministers to take advantage of this and consolidate and unite the people. “This cabinet as you can see is a cross generation cabinet. The grandparents are here like myself, the parents are here and the grandchildren are also here in this cabinet.

First of all, I congratulate all the Ugandans for the peaceful elections held on the 18th of February, 2011 and other elections held since that date. Secondly, I thank the Ugandans for overwhelmingly voting for me with 68.3%, the NRM Members of Parliament with 73%, District Leaders (LCV) with 79% Sub-County leaders (LCIII) with 71%. I also congratulate the opposition parties on the seats they got in Parliament, the District Council seats they got and the Sub-County positions they won.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday had a pulsating welcome back to the capital Kampala on his maiden public appearance as the newly elected President following sweeping victory in the February 18 polls in which he garnered 68.38 percent of the vote, trouncing his closest rival Kiiza Besigye of the FDC party who stood at a paltry 26.01 percent.

The Secretary General of the NRM, Hon. Amama Mbabazi, has welcomed the election results released by the Electoral commission that saw the NRM candidate win with an absolute majority and many others who won seats in parliament.

He congratulated his Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his win.
